Sounds like a new PhD subject is being born

British toilets and lavatorial behaviour. I can't imagine the French / Spanish have a similar culture - their toilets tending towards the functional rather than the aesthetic.

We have numerous copies of C+ and Arrivee, back copies of Viz, several Tour de France tomes, gardening books (currently The Fruit Expert and something on allotments) and a couple of misc. novels.

I am actively considering putting some shelves up.

Reading materials are varied:

Maths puzzle books such as the Moscow Puzzles
Arrivee
.net magazine
CSS books
parts of Saturday's Telegraph
parts of Sunday's Times
Short stories by Saki
maps
popular science books

My sons take advantage of the reading materials to make their occupancies more enjoyable.

My wife and daughter are not impressed and often purge the room of reading matter to the consternation of the male members of the household.

Thank God it's not just me that finds reading on the bog very relaxing. My better half wonders why i grap any reading material for the down load that is about to happen but i find it is the most comfortable seat in the house ! Reading Phillips road map at the moment (the big one that sits nice on your lap) planning my route to Cornwall.I would like a book shelf but Mrs Skud has drawn a line on that idea.

a word of advice. The Philips road atlas belongs under the marital bed. I produced my atlas with a flourish this very morning and my beloved said that this was an exceptionally sexy move.....

don't analyse. Give it a go...

'produced my atlas with a flourish' deserves to win some kind of award.
Possibly for Bad Taste in Innuendo, but an award nonetheless.

Maybe she's just got a thing about cartographers?
