I don't bother with reading matter in the loo, but my sister has a book about overthrown dictators and their poor taste in interior decor. Saddam Hussein's use of extremely expensive marble to make a tacky eagle-themed doorway sticks in the mind.

Presently, I have the 1964 Observer book of Cricket. Different times!

+1 I have a couple of their annuals which i read whilst dropping the kids of at the pool.

I always have a book on the go in the "Reading Room" (it's the one place in the house where I can get some peace and quiet!!).

At the moment I'm currently nearing the end of "Put me back on my bike", about Tom Simpson.

I often use the WHSmith offers of 6-8 books for a tenner to stock up my library.

I take the point about hygiene, especially if you are not the only person reading the book, but I can't recall any ill effects....
