Tom Daley - Red Nose Day

Tom Daley is rowing/cycling/running from the Olympic stadium, London to his home town of Plymouth, 4 days. Today was day 3, cycling Southampton to Bovey Castle, Dartmoor. A big ride, 130 miles, 3000m climbing (I think), horrendous Dorset and Devon climbs, and to cap it off, riding into the teeth of a big storm and huge winds.

He came within a few hundred metres of our home, between Charmouth and Axminster, so we walked across the fields to see him, about halfway through his ride. He went past us looking fairly chipper, still smiling. Shouted a few words of encouragement.

Checked just now, 8:45pm, and he’s still on the road, maybe 30 mins to go. A big ride for a ‘proper’ cyclist, a huge ride for an athlete from a different discipline. Massive respect for him.

Day 4 was a 30 mile run iirc, he made it to the end.
