I've just sold, after some faff with a buyer who didn't buy it, my Decathlon touring bike. It's being picked up tomorrow. I pulled it out of the garage confident that it didn't need anything doing to it then I spotted the buckle in the back wheel.

I dug out my spoke key and started to true the wheel according to the truing algorithm that I invented on the spot only to find that I'd made the buckle worse. I reformulated the algorithm and had a second attempt and managed to migrate the buckle through forty degrees or so around the rim.

I then resorted to the last resort - I looked up some instructions on the Internet.

The wheel is now trued up with a 0.5mm run out and is fully radial. The last resort took ten minutes. The first two attempts took half an hour.

I feel good and confident that I can take on any minor truing incidents in the future.

Don't panic. It's the first one. The original buyer pi55ed about paying me so I've sold it to a mate who's picking it up tomorrow. I've also sold the Stone Roses ticket that the original bike buyer hadn't paid me for. That will really cheese him off but he'll have to realise that i am not his personal banker offering interest free loans.

Also going tomorrow is a tent only to be replace by a new tent that should arrive on Friday.

Pannier stocks have diminished by four and bar bags by one in the past month.

Just realised that you are right - it is two bikes. I must be ill. I'd forgotten about the Ridgeback.

The garage does look empty. I can now get at my Lister D stationary engine without impediment. I must drag it out soon and crank it over for the first time this year but I digress.

The 'stock movement' is making it difficult for the domestic obergruppenfuhrer to keep track of my actions and the liberated space is destined, I think, to be filled with one of Woodrups' finest road bikes once I've lost another seven stones and indulged in several activities that will lessen the bollocking when another bike materialises..

I've tried painting the kitchen; ironing, and even going clothes shopping with her...all to no avail. I Know as soon as another bike appears in the shed there's going to be an almighty row.....

As for the tent - a Wild Country Duolite chosen because of its erect in one configuration and room and price - £119 inc shipping.

I did that with my Trevor Jarvis Flying Gate. I had it painted to match the colour of my Dave Yates Randonneur. In a break with orange I had the Woodrup painted in a apple green as per the prototype as I like the colour. I was, however, economical with the actualité when it came to revealing its price.

The price was the clincher for me.

I still have a brace of Argos tents I use them on weekend tours and when lending a tent to a friend when going to festivals.
