In the defence of the driver. It is a right hand drive van with massive blind spots and in my opinion, it is just the sort of thing to watch out for. The cyclist was not cycling in a defensive manner, but had 'presumed' he had been spotted.

Really though? I'd love to know what that defensive manner might look like... does it involve grenade launchers and drones and stuff?

Having seen the comments, there is probably some truth in that statement. I have become alert to all movement ahead of me and am completely at home with the pull out just in front of me. I did not mean to offend with my comment, but the video is a regular event to me.

and of course WVM checked if a car/bus/lorry was coming or he wouldn't have pulled out when he did but the presence and speed of a mere bicycle didn't represent a threat to his well being so went completely unnoticed. Typical poor driver behaviour.

real world but a 4km commute takes three hours in full defensive mode.

Yes, I've always wondered about the term 'Defensive Riding'. It always conjures up images of people having to karate chop and kick their way through traffic. Either that or a Samurai with sword and nimchucks dispatching every driver in sight.

Did Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan ever ride a bike in one of their films?? Becuase if they did, then that's what defensive riding would shurely look like in my mind's eye.

Look Swindoom, if that is your real name. Why are you riding on the road? The pavements are there for a reason. USE IT.

I think posting number plates up is a good idea. Just last week I had a message from someone who spotted the same chap as I filmed last year on the phone, chucking rubbish out of his window this time. Thanks to my easy to search for number plate video he had the contact details for the company (as prior to that he only had the VRN as he was sat behind the van). Might not always be the same company, might not always be the same person driving but one day maybe it'll come in handy.
