I took a tumble today whilst cycling along the tow path.
I'd done about 5 miles. A man and his dog were coming towards me.
He stopped and moved to one side with his dog. That was nice enough but, just as I got up to him, his dog shot out straight in front of me. And down I went.
While I was trying to disentangle myself from the bike, he walked away without saying a word.
Two joggers came past who had seen the accident. They stopped to help me and stayed until they were sure I was all right. That was nice.
My right hip is bruised. My left ankle got a right bashing. Gashed on the chain ring and well bruised. My derailleur also got bent but I managed to sort that out with a couple more adjustments on the way back home.
Felt a bit shaky on the way back. My legs wouldn't work and my ankle was letting me know," things aren't right here you know".
There you go. Such is cycling. It's not the first time I've come off by an means and it probably won't be the last.
Roll on the next ride, I say.
