Yes. The responsibility to exchange details is both parties responsibility.

Does he?

I see references in the Act to the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle being obliged to stop and provide various details, not any reference to a cyclist having to do the same.

This is the case. The driver is the only one who is required to provide insurance details. However, it is just good practice for cyclists to do the same. Unless the driver doesnt want them, then on his shoulders be it.

By jove you are correct. Thankyou for that.
For those interested, the legislation is Section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988

The exact same thing happened to me in this video:

It was just a little bump and no damage but at the time I didnt know. I got all his details and when I realised that there wasnt any damage, threw them away. I told the driver that if there was any damage, I would probably ring him first. He was fine with giving me his details and was genuinely apologetic for bumping into me.

I'd love to know where to get one for £20, It would save me giving Mazda £270 for one, the having to strip the door to fit it.

im just worried about Matthew's car now and what kind of car must be to have £20 wing mirrors. I think a new thread should be started. ..
