I'd add about chain tension, don't let fear of chain's slack comments give you the wrong idea. A good three quarter inch movement up and down when you waggle the chain halfway between chain ring and cog is about right. No chain ring (i've ever had) has been perfectly round so you're likely to have a tight spot somewhere. Make sure you've got the up and down movement at that point.

+1 for the African socket set. I've been meaning to buy a stubby 15mm for years.

Yes; slightly slack is better than too tight.
