And Pog who lost zero time to his main competition and will gain a proper rest day while out of Yellow.

PS - I really is quite entertaining reading through all this post race.
Simon Yates isn't in this race to win the odd stage from a breakaway. I'm not sure how what he did today helps Vingegaard in any way. He will have dug deep though and will probably pay for that effort later on.

Given it's a rest day tomorrow, disappointed Vin didn't try to counter when Pog stopped his surge up final climb.

I was thinking about this .. if he could attack at that threshold hoe much time would he gain compared to a big alpine finish ... In which case best to keep it secret . And if he couldn't...more likely imo it's best to not reveal that either by trying . ....

I don't think he could realistically

Hard to say . Increase morale a bit in the team . He's riding into shape rather than out of it.... Nice rest day for a bit of supercompensation

I assume he was there originally as a possible option up the road for later although that would have been optimistic with those smaller climbs. He didn’t really work that hard for much of the day and then took his chance. It’s not a bad thing to give your domestiques opportunities

Yeah, I'm sure he is gutted at having the stage win in his back pocket and a rest day to follow.

You need to have a word with Adam Blythe. He was convinced that Pog wanted to keep the jersey.
I mean, why wouldn’t he want to do all those rest day interviews and avoid a proper rest and relax?

As it happens, I'm off now to a Bastille Day reception in the French Embassy. I'll try not to gloat!! 🇮🇪🇫🇷

If it’s as good as the stuff going on round here in the Alps I doubt you’ll be gloating. The French really haven’t moved on musically from Jonny Holiday.
Have you heard Toto’s Africa played by an out of tune orchestra. Now listening to disco coming from the Railway workers family holiday centre and the sound of someone putting bottles in the near by bottle bank is a better listen.
