Have multiple intermediate sprints per stage, with points dished out for position and fastest times over the ~300m approach.

I don't agree with big points being dished out on mountain top finishes.

That would be really complicated and I can't see the point. But maybe that's because I am stupid. Is it just a daft gimmicky idea or am I missing something

Sounds gimmicky, if they want the points jersey to be a sprinters jersey then they just need to have more flat, easily controlled stages. I'm not sure that's what audiences want though. They could also ensure the intermediate sprints are placed in locations that mean they are more likely to be contested by the sprinters. I'm pretty sure they brought the current system in to stop breaks hoovering up all the intermediate points and to create competition for Cav when he was in his prime (and seemingly not well liked by the organisers who would DQ him at every opportunity).
