Unless there was a headwind, I don't know why Vin didn't try a long slow boil FTP-esque effort up the final climb, the drafting benefits would have been minimal.

But it's over this year bar injury or illness, neither a pleasant way to get the better of an opponent.

I agree what we are seeing is Pog 2.0 - much more calculating than Pog 1.0

Didn't Poggy have a cold a few days ago? Reason enough to be a bit more cautious than usual today and on Ventoux. The familiar swashbuckling, stage-hunting Pogacar was there for the first couple of weeks, wasn't he?

I don't think it's anything to do with a sniffle, he's been riding more cautiously all Tour. He's turned up his nose at 4 or 5 possible stage wins already, either to save himself or his team. That goes back to at least not chasing Healy on stage 6

Unless Pog's on a bad day, which Visma have been hoping for and trying to engineer all race, Jonas can't afford to give Pog that minimal few percent advantage of drafting on a climb.

Tomorrow's stage to Le Plagne has been shortened due an outbreak of illness amongst the local cows. I guess this news about les vaches qui retch will leave some people cheesed off, but it's important not to let these things spread.

Fingers super-crossed for Oscar Onley to make the podium!! He’s been a rockstar!

It actually sounds pretty miserable, not least for the local farmers who have seen their livestock slaughtered. Probably not all that great for the cows either, come to think of it:

Very nasty.

The stage is going to be brutally fast as well now. This is what the new profile looks like. No info as yet as to where an intermediate sprint might be placed
