It's not really a good look for the race - "Excuse me guys, do you mind awfully if I just ride up the road to get the KOM point as the best rider in the world doesn't want to wear the jersey tomorrow. I promise I'll stop and wait afterwards" He now ends up on a very short list of riders who have held the KOM jersey in all 3 GTs.

On the Philipsen crash, it was quite ironic how shortly beforehand there had been a discussion amongst the commentators about how he has acquired a bad rep for being a dangerous rider and then he gets taken down in something that was no fault of his at all.

Going to go out on a limb here and suggest that randomly narrowing the barriers every two hundred metres is not a brilliant way to organise things from the point of view of safety
