As is often the case, the end result is being punished, not the action itself.

Today looks like another day when being part of the breakaway looks like a fruitless manouvre, with a decent number of mountains points available, but only at the end after you have been swept up by the peleton again.

Will Prudhomme be cracking the whip for the invited teams? Will they have to fit lights just in case the race ends as it is getting dark? And is there any point predicting anything other than a Van der Poel win? (I don't think he will, but can't work out who will).

Pity - I have happy memories of Rouen. Not so Amiens, but purely due to sitting in a sleeper train at some unearthly hour in the morning as the station announcer gets ever more aggitated that the schedule alighter isn't getting off.

similar-ish to stage 2 finish today. back ended hills and uphill drag to (almost) the line. Moderate cross wind until they turn into a headwind for the run into Rouen, which will probably spell curtains for the break

Expect similar suspects to be duking it out.

Lets hope there are less crashes.....

It’s a shame that the peloton no longer allow a no hoper to grab the yellow on a breakaway, then cling on to it for a few days.

There is a certain romance in seeing a rider with no chance of winning the overall riding out of his skin to defend the jersey.

True.
Although that could also be extended to MvdP.

Cofidis team bikes that were nicked all recovered. Five found by team staff in undergrowth near the team hotel on Sunday, the rest found by police near the Belgian border on Monday. Phew…

The thieves clearly didn't like the Look of the bikes they nicked!

Infuriatingly, the wind for this stage is set to be pretty much cross-tail for the first 100 or so km, but only a light breeze. The Klaxon shall remain boxed.

The wind neutralised the racing yesterday. That was the major factor

Well the wind and the single Cat 4 stage profile. Nothing worth going out there for, definite sprint finish. a SW prevailing wind the same strength would have caused major chaos and a lot of real racing.

The Tommy Vockler year was excellent. Anyway it does still happen some of time at some races. No a no hoper but Uilisi held pink for a stage at this Giro

2011. I remember Tommy being quoted that he couldn't say anything about the excitement in the newspapers because he didn't read any of them. I was in Limoux that day, and saw him relaxing in yellow before the race with his feet up reading L'Equipe.
