I'll turn into the last 20 mins of the highlights later and see who wins the sprint

Stage 3 and no-one being prepared to get in a break speaks volumes. The organisers really messed up designing this stage. Even the sole 4th cat climb is too close to the end to encourage the usual suspects.

Can't ever remember a GT stage getting this far through the day without even an attempt at a breakaway. Sometimes it is just a lone rider, dreading a day in the wind for no reward other than a combativity prize. Sometimes several breaks form, but the peleton isn't happy with the format every time. But never a complete lack of any initiative.

The strong headwind is probably deterring breakaways as much as anything today, unless a decent bunch goes off, all you are doing is tiring your legs for nothing ( well a bit of TV time for your Team owner)

Almost feel sorry for commentators today.
There really is nothing to talk about.

Apart from when the chopper gave us pictures of Trouée d'Arenberg, just ro rub in how boring the stage was

To be fair, with a prevailing SW wind this should have been cross-tail the whole day.

We've seen it a couple of times before in the last couple of seasons I think. But as Pross said above, with a headwind and the peloton never giving anyone more than a handful of minutes anymore, who wants to bother? I also think "getting on the telly in a hopeless break" is less attractive to teams/sponsors now, as it's message is "we're a bit crap"
