There's a lot of teams watching this tour go up-the road without them ... Stage GC points everything. They need to change up

I am always amazed by the number of riders from all nationalties, and directors sportifs who speak English. Yet, how many British riders speak a second language? Very few I guess.

I wouldn't be so sure - it might be a self-selecting sample but a lot of those who progress to media work seem to have one or two languages to call on. It's also pretty common to live and train on the continent still, so why wouldn't they pick up the language?

Owain Doull. Stevie Williams. Both speak English as a second language.

Fairly sure Adam Yates speaks French. Cav speaks good Italian IIRC. Carthy Spanish. Luke Rowe wouldnt be Decathlon DS if his French wasnt OK.

In all seriousness, most people in well paid management jobs under 45yo worldwide speak English. Most very well.

Maybe fewer now as English has become the predominant language but in the past most would have gone over to France as amateurs and would have learned it. Matt Stephens for example is fluent in French I believe. It's a bit of a lazy stereotype.
