So, UAE/Visma mind games and tactics the last two days...
Happy-go-lucky boy-racer cheeky-chappy potential GOAT Pogacar has clearly been trying to introduce a little needle into things. On stage 6 he said he didn't understand Visma's tactics riding the last two climbs super hard - maybe they wanted him in yellow, and stage 7 he said he thought that Visma (Jonas and Jorgenson) didn't want to cooperate to try for the stage win (presumably with Jorgenson leading Vingegaard out).
While Visma say they didn't ride to put Pog in yellow on stage 6 (think they have to say that or Pog's alliance with Alpecin/MvdP is strengthened) they probably did, but Campenaerts also explained their hard riding as a defensive strategy, preventing attacks from going earlier and Pog maybe gaining a bunch of seconds. Pog sounded genuinely annoyed by it, as if the fact that he's the massive favourite means he should get an armchair ride and be able to do as he likes. He said they'd considered going for the stage, but had decided not to "spend bullets", which I think they were made to do a little.
As for the stage 7 comments, that's just a weird thing to say, it's obvious that Jonas wants to be on Pog's wheel, because if he's on Jorgenson's wheel and Pog goes early he's going to get gapped very quickly. (Vingegaard also says after the stage he made a mistake and had wanted to leave a slight gap to attack).
To me Pog is starting to grate a little, clearly there's a sharper edge to him than is commonly portrayed, but he's allowed to shape this narrative that Visma's tactics are weird/stupid/unintelligible and that Visma have internal conflicts and the media suck it up uncritically, because he's the nice smiley boy.
