Something up with Girmay? He was in the bunch for both the intermediate and final but never seemed to open up his sprint.

Did he get boxed in?

When I looked at Meteo France earlier, it was totally different.
Very odd.

Still I much prefer this forecast

I know it's another dull stage today, but I hope next weekend and following weekend we will get live coverage on ITV4 from the neutralised roll-in... Along with any promising weekday stages (like the puncheur-tastic stage on Bastille Day, ITV4 from 1200 BST).

I agree with everyone here that yesterday and today may not make great viewing or sport even. However, we should remember this is France’s race and for the French it is a wonderful occasion as it passes through their towns and villages, as noted by @CarbonClem above. The whole day is a party.
We should not whinge too much, our fun will come.

A few years ago we'd have been devastated if they took days like this out (well some of us at least), how on earth would Cav win on one of those punchy climbs that seem to be fashionable now?

We should remember that you don't have to watch the whole day, you can go and have a nap/pint/mow the lawn whatever, and it's only fairly recently they've started giving us the full 6 hours coverage.

Obviously I'm going to continue to rip the piss out of it, and probably watch all day in the hope of seeing another alpaca, or a man with a stuffed goose or a French rider hugging his family as he goes through his village.

On the subject of whether it's worth watching: Danish TV are going quite hard on the prospect of echelons late in the stage, but as far as I can see the winds are only meant to be about 20km/h (gusting harder) but that's probably a touch too low I think

I am mystified. I thought it was odds on no breakaway before the early intermediate sprint, if at all.
Then MvdP and his mate take off from the flag drop.
