Chinon is famous for red wine, which is unusual for the predominantly white wine producing Loire. It’s made with the Cabernet Franc grape.

All correct.
Yet the Loire Valley produces loads of red, you just have to search for it in the UK. Saumur-Champigny and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil (and others) also have wonderful wines from cab franc. Sancerre (and its satellites) also has a surprising amount of red, made from pinot noir. And don't forget the roses too!
The reds at this time of year work well slightly chilled. All well worth trying. 🍷🍷
