Looked close to head hitting kerb sideways to me on replay.

But it was his arm hit the kerb - what would the rule be on the check?

Nope. Rider came from behind him on the left, wanted to go with the move on the right, went through between riders and straight through his front wheel. Riders in front hadn't moved right yet either.

Totally correct.
Also correct that it was his arm, not head that hit the deck. His head missed the curb too. Absolutely no contact.

I know these guys are indestructible but falling off your bike at 60km/h or whatever it was is gonna hurt.

Sometimes hurts more going down at 10km/h to be honest, also helps if you aren't expecting it and don't tense up. I was surprised at the lack of tearing of his shorts so hopefully he hasn't lost much skins but his hip will have taken a bump.

Chapeau Abrahamsen....what a ride !

As for Pog to me it looked like he stayed straight and Johannssen cut across quickly trying to follow a move.
Harsh to blame either really...one of those race things.Time will tell the next couple of days if there's any lasting damage though, hit the deck hard enough.Fingers crossed

Tobias Johannessen on the crash 😲

"I am terribly sorry for what happend to @TamauPogi. I was trying to follow a move and I can see that I was to close. I thought everyone would move to the right, but I made a mistake and would like to say sorry again. I hope he is as good as he can be after a crash like that.
I would of course like to do it again and do it differently, but I can’t. That feels shoot, but I would not wish anyone the amount of threats I get in my inbox. I am terrible sorry but also terrified of the hate from all the people. This feels very scary.

I made the mistake of visiting the alternative universe that is the cyclingnews forum.
It’s all about apportioning blame there too.

Is there no such thing as a simple racing incident anymore?
