For Lanterne enthusiasts, Luka Mezgec is leading the way (bringing up the rear) so far, with a time of 31:28 - nearly a minute and a half slower than current Lanterne Mattéo Vercher

If the winning time was 22 minutes dead (we've discussed above this might not be a good thing, alive is generally better) then the cutoff at 40% would be 30:48. At 23 minutes it would be 32:12

And Pogačar, rather suspiciously, posts a time of exactly 23 minutes.

Jonas (paraphrased):

Had a bad day yesterday, was under his normal level on the final climb, knows he can do better
Was pleased to come back like he did today
Four minutes will be hard but it's a long way etc. and they'll keep trying

Got to admire the mental strength tbh

Meanwhile, with Simon Visma Yates and Jorgenson both doing proper efforts it looks a little like Visma are switching to the Movistar "at least we can win the teams comp" tactic...

EDIT: Thought Yates had done better. His brother wasn't too bad in tenth... Kuss was the third Visma rider at 3.18, a minute and a half faster than UAE third place Soler

HE HAS ONLEY MOVED UP TO FIFTH!!
No bad day ever for Poggi. He’s an alien you know.

McEwen reckoned he'd leap frogged Vauquelin but when the GC came up he's still a few seconds behind. Top 4 at the end is possible depending on how Roglic goes (I think Lipowitz will take the third podium place).

Le Tour site has Onley 5th @8:11 and Vauquelin 6th @8:15 (as does PCS)

There's a few riders who need to pull their socks up... subject, of course, to UCI regulations...
Mas, Rodriguez (Carlos), Skjelmose, O'Connor, Buchmann, Gall...
Or am I being unfair?
They'll all be in the stage hunter camp after tomorrow, if they're not careful!

Skjelmose has already dropped out of the GC and is targeting the polkadots. He was in the breakaway yesterday and will be going for it tomorrow, with any luck staying away for a stage win
