Tour Of Britain 2009 routes announced

Not sure when these were announced but they are the 2x routes for the South West of England Somerset and Devon.
Perhaps we could organise some rides for local CC members to watch the race on those two days . ? it was a fantastic spectacle last year and i got some brilliant pics in some of my local villages.

maybe Porlock hill or somewhere equally challenging so they have to slow down a bit

They set off literally 1 mins walk from my front door, and so my aim is to see the activity in the morning, watch them off, and then into the car to get ahead to a mid point, and again to get to the end.

Should be a good day. Reckon I will head down to Yeovil to see them finish the following day too

won't even need to get out of bed , just look out the window

I'm hoping to get out on my bike this year and ride to a vantage point . Last year i drove to Horton and took some pics but I had a poor position and they flew past me too quickly.

Some local club cyclists rode round the route before the race. it was a good larf. Everyone saw them in the distance and thought it was the peleton .

I have looked on Peanut's link, and the Tour of Britain site, and cannot get a detailed map of stage 6 or 7. I might be in Torquay that week, and would like to know the route. If I click on the "7" it does not take me to a more detailed map. Can anyone help please?

I think it could be a lot of driving from Torquay to the race, and then they all go past in how many seconds?

I know last time I picked a spot 50 yds from a sharp right hand bend in a small village and they still passed me at 25mph+

best place is at the top of a steep hill .
I see the tour actually comes past quite close to my home in Crewkerne just before the finish in Yeovil. I'll probably drive out to a hill somewhere scenic to get some good shots.
