Coming within 15 miles of my house (Southwold) today. Forecast is dire or I’d have gone and watched. Bugger if I’m paying *£300 for parking in Southwold, and getting cold and wet to watch some cyclists for 10 seconds…..
The start was only 10 miles or so from home for me, but I couldn't be bothered to get up there for the roll out this morning. Felixstowe, which is only a couple of miles down the road, has hosted the start or finish of stages of both the men's & women's races a number of times. Part of the last 6km run in that is always used passes within a hundred yards or so of my home

Some very familiar roads to me on both stage 1 & 2 this year, but it's always surprising how different they look at a pro's speed and from from the different perspective of the motorbike coverage.

Saturday forecast looks good too, I parked in Llanfoist and walked up last time but will probably do it from the other side this time.

It was easy from the Blaenavon side. No problem parking, so only a short walk to the Keepers.

The cars are more interesting than the riders.

You never know whether to believe those road closed signs when you're out on your bike. Sometimes it's possible to sneak past the blockage, even if it means carrying your bike. It's always worth checking. I'd advise the riders to give it a go.

I came across a 'road closed' sign on my ride today. The driver in front of me discovered that it was very closed to motor traffic - the entire width of the road was dug up and barriered off. I just hopped up onto the pavement for a few metres and cycled round it...

As for the Tour of Britain. I quite enjoy watching it but don't usually get excited about it.

I live 5 miles away from the top of the Tumble.
I was on the finishing line last time it was used and the weather was glorious.
It’s not often you can say that…

Last time it was in Wales, it came right through my village, about 200 yards from my house. I watched it through tere, then cycled up to Caerphilly Mountain, which they did twice that year, finishing in Caerphilly itself.

This time Caerphilly is the closest it gets to me, and I expect to be up there again on Sunday - forecast is 50% chance of rain at that time.
