I'm heading to France from New Zealand in early June. Starting a tour in Lille, and heading east towards Switzerland, then south towards alps. Itinerary not fixed, based around a few people I can visit and passes I can consider climbing. Mid-July end date.
I'm 62, reasonably fit male. I like to meet locals and practice speaking French. I can speak enough to get along, but there's so much more to learn. I've done a couple of short tours in France, and think I know the ropes reasonably well. On my own I use warmshowers or campgrounds or cheaper hotels. Generally buy main meal, make own breakfast. Carry lunch food, but have trouble staying away from boulangeries and cafes when I see them.
I ride 60-100km a day, but always happy to stop and talk or to sightsee. Can adapt to preferences of a companion. I'm happy with hills, but can adapt.
I'd like a companion prepared to be sociable with the locals and other cyclists, not in too much of a hurry.
Who's out there? Flexible about the person, just want a cycling companion.
