Hi
I’m intending to cycle tour Lon Las Cymru in September 2014 and am placing this post in the hope of finding a touring partner(s)
I’m based in Coventry and am relatively new to touring having only previously toured the Southwest
I toured from Taunton down to Lands end and round to Falmouth
Was a baptism of fire as I went the wrong way round and got battered by the south westerly’s and rained on all week! Still it didn’t put me off!
If you’re interested please mail me
Thanks for reading my post
Best wishes

You'll find that solo touring offers a lot more freedom and a total absence of conflict. I've toured with a friend for two two week tours and whilst we had a laugh and a wonderful time we both had to make compromises that niggled.

I prefer to set my own pace, stop for as long as it takes to take in the sights, converse with the locals - they are less likely to interact with a pair of cyclists. I was never short of conversation opportunities whilst touring solo.

Could be interested if you could post more details, date, number of days you are planning on taking, accommodation (tent/b&b) etcetc

I agree with Vernon to some extent. I have just returned from a week long tour in Portugal. It gives a total freedom. One day I will write a book on "loneliness of a lonely cyclist". At the same time I have done tours with an organised group, with Explore in Cuba. It had its own advantages.

So I am happy to consider but I think by September, it is already beginning to get wet in Wales. August would be better. Now you see, you already have a problem!
Anyway let us know your plan, number of days and accommodation etc.

.

Might get away with first week in September, August will be heavier traffic with school holidays. Suppose its a trade off

A bit more info about the proposed trip
I was planning to do Lon Las Cymru over 7-8 days starting in Cardiff or Chepstow
If I start in Chepstow, might ride there from Hay on Wye
I could also start from Hollyhead
I’m not looking to turn the trip into a test of endurance. The terrain will be challenging enough
I’m planning to camp and cook each night but nothing is set in stone
I'm looking at starting towards the beginning of September and am happy to plan everything

I will try and book the week off commencing 1/9 if you are happy to set off on the Sunday 31/08, happy with either a Chepstow or Hollyhead start point, whichever way the forecast says the wind will be blowing the week before ^_^ 45yo/m btw

I have never camp while touring. Always relied on B and B. But I am happy to try it. I have done bit of camping but not for a long time.
I see that you are from Coventry. I am in Northampton. Perhaps we could do a weekend local ride and plan it.
