I presume Garmin Livetrack requires a garmin device??

Not sure that would be worth it as other things do everything I want
except the tracking - which is only Strava as far as I can see!

It does require a garmin device, and a garmin connect account, which is free.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
My wife likes to keep an eye on me on Garmin Livetrack. The only issue we've had is its accident alerts. I've set them off a number of times, getting going again at roundabouts, and I am no TdF sprinter, so I'm doing it quite gently.

Being a clumsy bugger I turned that off immediately. I could imagine knocking my bike over while extracting my sandwiches and setting off a chain of events that involves me being pursued by a search and rescue helicopter.

I can understand what the OP wants, but I can't understand *why* he thinks he needs it. When I go out riding, I too use WhatsApp to give 'live' tracking info to my wife, but I cannot imagine that she'd be interested to know where I'd been before such time as she looks, except *possibly* to determine my direction of travel.

Since I switched to Garmin Livetrack, which shows the planned route ahead and track of where I've been, my wife has commented how much better it is. At a glance it shows how I'm doing and how much more I have planned.

But that aside, it doesn't matter why the OP wants what they do, as long as they're clear about what it is. And the OP is pretty clear in this case. And that's all that matters.

What people think they might like, and what they actually need, can be two very different things. The OP has massively narrowed his options, probably to the extent of having to pay for what he thinks he needs, purely on the basis that he thinks his wife needs to know where he's already been. I know for sure that my wife couldn't care less about seeing a breadcrumb trail; as long as I'm moving, that's good for her. If she's really concerned, she'll send me a message.

I don't think it's at all unreasonable for the discourse to venture towards other options.

I'm not sure that the OP has asked for the history side? But we have found that Garmin tracking is more accurate than, say, just using shared locations on Google Maps. Those sometimes update once every half hour or so.

Since my wife says that she uses tracking to send the boyfriend home in good time, that could be important.

Checking you haven’t been to the pub or visited your mistress.

Actually the only time she has rung me when I have been out riding was when I was stopped for a while talking to a good looking woman

It was on the towpath of a canal and she was lost and wondering the best way to get home

but it was weird that - for one of the very few times in my whole life - a good looking woman comes over to me - and we end up chatting
that my wife rang!!

weird - when I got home I did ask if she actually had a drone following me and checking on me or something!!!
