Come to think of it, there are a few lost boozers over in the Health section on the teetotallers thread

You know what, that might account for the dip in quality content recently.

Pub culture in Bradford centre & it's surroundings seems to have died, I reckon it has a nett loss of 60-80 (maybe more) pubs and bars since 1990. All the major roads into it used to be drinking "routes", now all the pubs have closed on them due to changing demographics. Leeds centre and surroundings appears to have changed little in the same period, maybe it has had no nett loss. Co-joined and yet different worlds.

I do miss "choice", younger I'd like looking at a range of spirits and liqueurs before plumping for something horrible like Blue Bols & Glayva, now there is bugger all choice at the pub co's.

Move to Newcastle. Without struggling I could give you the names of 20 quality establishments scattered around the place.

The working men's type clubs are dying off too, if the one I have dealings with at work is anything to go by. It seems the old boys are dying off, and not enough younger members are coming in. Trouble is, the old boys don't want the changes necessary to keep the place going, so the place will die in to not too distant future.
