I was at ‘Wandahomes’ earlier, that’s the main dealer by FerryBridge Services (where ‘old’ A1 & M62 intersect)

After purchasing what l required, l noticed a new Coachman VIP 460
(ours is a VIP 520)

I was a bit surprised by the price!

I didn’t dare look at a new ‘520’…

£35k apparently!

Would love to get a classic caravan safari with the roof lights, or a van Royce for sheer quality!!
Mrs Brady has a 'Clerestory roof' van

I didn't mention at the time, but daughter & chaps new 'van was driven home with no brake/tail-lights
The side marker-lights worked, & the high-level, but not in the clusters
The indicators were fine, so that precluded an earth fault in the clusters (I'm not sure if it has the correct indicator relay, as I didn't see a 'tell-tale' on the dash

Sadly, a pair of new bulbs didn't work
I've been informed though, that Sam & his dad had a look, & the bulb-holders in the clusters were broken, when they unscrewed the clusters
We might get a pair of clusters from a breakers, when we can?, there's one just off the A1, at WentBridge, & another in Thornton (Bradford)

So, 'fingers crossed', for their/its inagural night away on Friday!!
It's not that far away, only just over the border into North Yorkshire
We're meeting them at the site, to sit in deckchairs & watch them reverse & set up
(or maybe even, 'intercept' them partway there, & follow/lead the way)

A rather elevated Discovery Td5, & a ‘teardrop’, that’s probably only good for sleeping in!
It had a heck of a drop-plate on

We were looking, just out of curiosity, at new 'vans
(SWMBO was looking at fixed beds/end bathrooms....... wasted space to me)
This one took my eye, especially at that price!
£24,995
Part of the Elddis group(?); https://xplore-rv.co.uk/models/xplore-xc-quad

Plus, this is the (almost new) model that we own
(ours is a '520' too)
The Coachman site lists a '520' at £35,880

We had to ask to move pitches, as the mains cable was a short one (10 yards?)
Other than that, no real issues
We had tea in the cafe/bar too

I'm 99.9% certain they[re heading for the Land Rover show at Billing Aquadrome
I didn't realise it was this weekend
The caravan in front was being towed by a fairly standard looking Discovery Td5
I went to that, almost every year, between 1997 & 2012 (when Land Rover Owner magazine organised it)

Re; the lifted Disco, those tyres certainly won't be speed-rated for the vehicle!
(& possibly a factor in any RTC/insurance claims?)

Yes, looks like the Explorer group have been bought out by Hymer, Explorer Group were Elddis, Compass, Bucaneer & Crown, I have it on good authority that Siddle Cook who started Elddis Caravans was known to turn up on Elddis Owners Club Rallies, towing his Elddis behind a Rolls Royce, he also set up Elddis Transport, iirc both are on Delves Lane, Consett
