No , but if you ride both 30 miles harder than you could ride 60 miles in one go the training load will probably be more . Time in the saddle is always worth it so if you can fit in 2 30 milers time wise rather than 1 60 miler go for it . Don't forget recovery days

Training should be progressive and should be part of longer training plan.

What is your current weekly base miles?
When is your 100 miler and what sort of event is it? A time trial, sportive or complete leisure ride?

If you can repeatedly do 2x30 miles comfortably, more than once a week, you shouldn't have any problem doing a 100 on the event day.

Good luck

every 100 + i have done is a leisure ride so 2 coffee/ food stops planned so if they can do the 2x 30 like you said the extra 40 is more than doable .

@Sharky has put it well.

30 miles * 2 gives you a good base. Adding longer 50+ mile rides builds on that base.

Are you on a tight-ish time limit for the 100 miles? (i.e. a sportive / time trial). Then aim to add speed in addition to distance.

My regular cycling buddy commutes a 10 mile each way commute.... He maintains similar fitness to me doing 30 mile rides and 10k runs!

Infuriating!🤣🤣

I'd be happy to do 100 miles on 30 miles training rides. Just take it easy withe stops every 25miked. Your backside and shoulders tend to be the first to complain tbh.

Take electrolyte drinks too..

I remember a colleague telling me that his brother must be a genetic freak. Colleague commuted 80 km/week on his bike, did 40-50 hours/week of manual labouring at work, and enjoyed various sports. Bro just bummed around and got very little exercise. Colleague was gutted to find that his brother could easily outrun him over any distance from 100 m to 5+ km!

In my early days resuming cycling (age in 60's and way less than 100 miles) When I wanted to increase my distance I'd do a ride, get home, have lunch then do another similar distance. Then get home for just coffee (shorter break), then. Take a flask out with me ... and didn't take long before the break was not important.
