Hi all, I'm thinking of buying a turbo trainer and trainer tyre, being quite new to cycling I'm looking for some advice on the correct tyre width to fit to my rims, I have a spare mavic xm319 wheel with a 19mm inside rim width, most training tyres seem to be 23c and I'm wondering if this would be compatible with the rim ? This is for a hybrid, I don't know if that makes a difference ?

Thanks Craig

23mm is the standard size for a 19mm rim.

It should be ok.

The reason you don't normally use a 23mm tyre on a 19mm ID rim is because you end up with a very flat profile so could bottom out easily on potholes.

I would hope you don't have potholes on your turbo
