Was a warden at the local scout campsite for 15 years. All manner of stoves were used. It's where I saw the remains of a gas cartridge that exploded. They lost a tent as well, but no injuries other than to their pride.
Went to Bispham Hall a couple of times in my scouting days. We used to build open fires and ovens using biscuit tins covered with soil.

Now considered "too dangerous" to be attempted on camp.

Petrol soaked sand in a tin.

Can’t beat cooking on an altar fire, especially a full breakfast on Sunday morning, worth putting up with the little beggars when they bring you a fry up they’ve cooked themselves :okay:
I have an ex Swedish army trangia in my van, worth it’s weight in gold, and best of all was £7.99 from the army surplus shop, perfect for brew up’s and soup when working outside in winter where there’s no facilities
