I suspect riding through is not a problem but I'm happy to partake of refreshment a few miles further on if necessary. As Ducky pointed out last night in da room, a stop after the halfway point is always best psychologically.

Your last point makes sense, but as to going a few miles on, Mach is the only substantial place for miles, and so the outlying villages will probably feel similarly affected. I think Banjo is probably right. The locals are tying pink ribbons to things, so if your bike is sporting one of those then it would show empathy. Luckily, Rich, it goes with your style anyway...

Makes sense. Definitely good idea to get past the halfway mark before stopping for food.

...or tapering from a long way out as LD has said!^_^

That's going to have to be my approach.

I've just found out, that my Missus is at a conference all next weekend, so my very last training ride is going to be tomorrow - hopefully, I'll manage 40 miles.

I've taken a look on Accuweather and whilst the weather isn't going to be wall-to-wall sunshine, I think that it ain't going to be too bad. (There won't be any hurricanes etc.) At the moment, they state that it will be 'mostly sunny'.

If it was flattish I'd piss it , I've lost about 1/2 a stone since the last ride and I am riding quicker on my 30 mile rides I am really looking forward to doing my first 100 mile ride I know if I can get round this then I can do any thing ,

Thing is there's no rush go at a speed your ok with and eat drink plenty. If you try to keep up with a pace that's uncomfortable you will burn out or suffer cramps. Been there got the T shirt.

Recce done I detoured to Borth to look at the pubs, not much really, but at talybont the white lion and black lion sit next to each other on the little green. both look likely. Life seemed to be going on in Mac the pink ribbons and baloons clearly evident. As was heavy media amnd police prescence.
