Hope this wind dies down, otherwise its going to be a killer. I've just cycled home from work this evening (Hull to Hornsea) & in the exposed areas the wind was brutal. If its windy, let me know what time you are due into Hull & I'll come & ride infront of you, apparently I make a good wind break

I was worse than anything I've rode in before, a real battle to stay upright  Still very windy this morning & think I'm going to work in the car today. just watching weather forecast now & looks like the wind will die down tomorrow, but there is plenty of rain due :rain:
Hope you enjoy your ride whatever the weather throws at you ^_^

Hi just to let every one know myself and my husband completed the transpennine trail last week. We did it in 3 days it was good fun but hard work we are now looking at doing more next year. Catherine

This is great news Catherine! I'm looking forward to doing this myself, thinking of coordinating with a friend to ride with me, and trying to get it so we have food and a roof over our heads for one of the days.

Did you get any great photos?

Hi 3 days was hard work but we stayed in 3 nice b & bs first one in glossop (the birds nest cottage) you wont be dissappointed 2nd night was selby hazeldene lodge also lady does evening meal and starter for 4.99 and really lovely also honesty bar so help yourself to a drink and just put a 1.00 in the glass. And 3rd hornsea acorn lodge really lovely. We did travel quite a bit in the dark especially on last night about 10miles in the woods, horrible and scary would not recommend that. The first pic is the one we done in the dark and the 2nd one is the old station at hornsea have lots more will try and upload them.

I also had 3 punctures and 2 new tyres fitted within the first 10 miles .

I had read that (about the punctures and tyres) and meant to comment, my head is a little fried of late, so apologies.
It's handy to know to expect those sorts of things. Thinking if I were to get it organised, I'll switch my Gatorskins for Schwalbe Marathon Plus's.

Will look forward to seeing the pics, as love seeing people's tours!

Hoping to do a Devon and Cornwall tour in the new yeear, keeping it cheap and the load light, just need to find a good tent and sleeping bag, my panniers are due to arrive any day, I've a good light and a phone which I can use purely for cycling with (my old work's one).
Who knows, maybe you'll be seeing me and my friend on the trail next year!

I hope we do i got claude butler puncture free for 20.00 each supplied and fitted. We had panniers aswell there very handy the only thing with camping is carrying extra stuff that was one of the reasons we booked b& bs, you will enjoy it just be prepared is my only advice and if it gets dark stop over somewhere. Eat and drink throughout the day where hoping to do quite a few more next year this time i would train, were we never this time ..

How was the section out of Glossop? I was on my road bike that morning in the same area and it was foggy, raining and a fair easterly wind. I was thinking of you struggling on the bridleway over the tops when you leave the Longdendale Trail.
