Hi nickyboy it was so bad not very well signposted either we had to walk along the top of the road in that weather it was so dangerous. The scariest bit was the one from selby to hornsea it was the last 10 miles we arrived in the pitch black into the wooded bit i was so frightened. Certainly wouldnt recommend doing it in the dark my husbands light had ran out of charge so we were only using mine . it was a very good experience looking for different routes next year .
I would highly recommend the acorn lodge they even let us keep our bikes in the big hall . breakfast fantastic and beautiful rooms u wont be disappointed. I wouldnt of been able to do it in 2 days i struggled with 3 but wouldnt change anything. .
You should have put a shout out on here, I could have brought a spare light, or assisted with my dynamo light to brighten the way. Glad you both made it though, well done! Here's to next years trip(s)
I would say it is much easier with a b&b hornsea there is a lovely place called knights and really lovely food reasonable, and then we went to whetherspoons in glossop and selby the lady does you a meal. I was looking at the plymouth trail the other day ..I'm just talking to my friend who's wanting to do this with me, and think we'll be doing it in tents, however I'm tempted to just do B&B's now.
Least then we don't need to cook etc, just rock up, find somewhere local for good food and drink, crash out in the B&B and get up, eat and pedal off
I also want to re-do Ilfracombe to Plymouth (C2C), as couldn't finish it last year due to a bad knee, but this year have two new bikes and have hopefully strengthened my knee.
