Hey guys....

As a sensible 1st time transporting bike tomorrow on new car roof rack ive taken my lights and saddel bag off the bike... is this what you guys would do ? Or are they safe enought staying on the bike? I was thinking of zip tieing them onto the bike for extra security.

As always your help is appreciated

It's what I do. They probably wouldn't fall off but if they are in a bag in the car it gives more peace of mind.:okay:

Every time. I use a rear rack but it's the same thing, the drivers responsibility to secure your load. Best way, remove everything that's not bolted down.

I take lights, Garmin, pump, bottles and saddle bag off the bike before it goes on the roof. Although unlikely, the last thing you want is to see any of them vanishing behind you at 60mph.

* - although I do leave the out front mount and bottle cages on

Whatever you do don't forget it's on your roof when entering height limited entrances e.g. car parks! I have a friend who forgot and wrote off his Pinarello!

Always. Except once -- which was the time the zip broke on my saddle bag and I lost the contents. The bag was still securely strapped to the bike.

I park in works car park, (then go off for a quick ride before work) not yet got any height restrictions, however I could see management installing something soon if current trend of useless things keep getting implemented.
