@KnackeredBike only 1 spare bike come on over to the world of 4 or 5 spare one's

Got me out of jail this mornings: main bike is mid-service awaiting a part; second-choice bike had a puncture that upon examination turned out to be a failed rim tape and I'd just used my last one servicing the main bike; third-choice bike needs a new chain so I'm keeping that for light duties until I get a round tooit; so hello bike number four for an infrequent ride out

The Shimano Claris gear shifters are very nice. Not too sure about the wheels, they are deep section and seem to have fewer spokes but the original wheels lasted okay on KB so hopefully these will too.

Nowt wrong with that. All decent quality entry level kit (although I've never been a fan of kendal tyres).
Bit of basic maintenance/cleaning and it should last for ages.

@Kestevan thanks, commuting to a bit more TLC for this one. Tyres have been swapped straight away for 23mm Gatorskins, they looked rubbish.

Well done on your choice of bike.
These wheels will be fine for the use you intend. And they are not 'deep section' and 28 spokes is a decent number, provided you are not in the 100kg+ bracket.

Cracking bikes for commuting etc, done many years and miles on a carrera .
I upgraded my wheels but they didnt make me any faster to these
