I think I've narrowed my choice of hybrid down to these 2 unless anyone else wants to throw something else into the mix. I managed to have a go on the Trek and quite liked it. However I was unable to try out my size of the Cannondale - the bike shop only had a smaller size frame that had already been reserved and won't be getting stock for a couple of months but I was impressed by the bike looks wise !
My online research found this article which suggested that in this mid range all the bikes are pretty much the same
http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-hybrid-commuter-bike/# although ended up plumping for the Trek. So is this correct and effectively its like the old Audi /BMW argument (to use a car analogy) in that both are pretty good it's down to the purchaser which they prefer ? or is the article a bit misleading ?
Oh and now the stupid question. I've seen around the forums that good deals can be had on last year's bike model to clear out for the new MY. So when do the bike manufacturers start their new year please or have I missed it
TIA
