Similar topic to the thread looking for advice on a road bike purchase, but with a slightly different feel...

As someone buying his first road bike, I currently cycle 18 miles a day, three days a week as a commute, and then 30-40 miles on a Saturday as a leisure ride.

I am increasing that at the moment as I am training for a L2P ride.

I don't really understand the technical side of bikes, and I am not a racer - I go along at my own pace and am happy with that. Although I'm reasonably fit and do okay.

So, here are two bikes I've been looking at:

Triban 3 - £300 and gets good reviews it seems. Problem for me is that the Decathalon store is 40 minutes away.

Moda Rubato - £900 and gets good reviews also. Can buy it from my local shop.

But it's not worth spending £600 to avoid the travelling.

So, can anyone help with practical differences between the two bikes, and benefits that I am likely to notice... if indeed there are any?

Thanks!

Are there really no other options in between? 40 minutes not far away really but red Triban more or less sold out. Also weak wheels often need an upgrade.

Not saying that there are no options in between, but I hope that by choosing two quite different in price, someone could offer me some genuine reasons why one is priced higher than the other.

And by reasons, I mean things that I would notice!
