That's a great point. Riding a trike lets you easily spot and grab hazardous trash, preventing flats for everyone. It's a simple act that makes a real difference.

Road riding if I assess stuff as a serious risk to traffic I park up and walk back. (Not on high traffic roads where risk to self is equated too high)
It has to be done strategically though as any car item impact can spell danger, as we well all likely know every time we pass even a small can in the road.

Anyone can claim to do that on the internet.
Anyone can, but why put something I haven't done on here. I will add it was done on the road, not the internet though.

No public transport to where I was working at the time, much less at the time of day required to get me to work.

Today's ride at one point made me probably despair a bit about "some people". Approaching a T-junction, slowing for dashed line (Give way) and a good handful of wood screws covering an area of maybe 2 m x 2 m. Varying length screws from ¾" to 1½". I stopped to pick them up and a good handful.

Maybe reassuring that whilst picking then up I had to wave a couple of cars to the opposite side of the road to avoid the screws and they all stopped and asked if all was OK and I explained screws.

Of course might have been dropped by accident but difficult to imagine them falling out of a van (closed doors) or bouncing out of a trailer (on an unusually good surface and ending up over such a limited area) and all on a patch of road where drivers would be looking up for oncoming vehicles not down at the road surface.
