Triple Chainline

Fitted a new mtb triple onto my franken hybrid/tourer last night. The chainlines seem to be quite bad, worse than remember them on the road size triple I replaced. Maybe I just have a terrible memory?

It's on a new octalink BB, and the gap between where the crank and the bb shell (where you can see the BB axle) is larger than expected but I couldn't get it any further on. What size gap would be typical?

Mtb triple chainline is typically either 47.5mm or 50mm. That is the distance between the centre of the seat tube and the middle ring. If it is nowhere near do let us know the make/model/code of the chainset and bb.

Crude measurement suggests it's bang on 50mm. That's good news right?
