Not quite true: what happened when I was opened up, was my appendix , being itself Irish, jumped out and shouting “you’re not getting me!” tried to strangle the surgeon, it was restrained by a couple of nurses long enough to get me stitched up enough for me to run after little Appy and catch her in an empty glove box, she now lives in a hutch in the garden.

That does make me think of a woman who slipped on ice last year and broke her nose. According to a friend who knows her, she didn't fancy all the hospital waiting, faffing about etc, so she punched the bone back into place and just got on with it. Whether this is true I don't know, but knowing about her, I wouldn't be surprised if she did!😉
