A definite NO to National Service as far as I'm concerned.

I agree too, why should the Army have to pick up the s*** all the time.

Oh I agree, but some sort of national service, maybe good works projects or community work, but with proper discipline and structure. We have to try something different as the current way of doing things is just not working. We are creating whole generations of families who are dysfunctional, never work and that are lawless.
Something has to be tried, and ok I'm not totally sure NS is the only answer, but at least it may help some avoid the trap. My wife calls it "poverty of ambition" and it's so true, they don't understand that their lives could be so much better if only they applied themselves in a positive way, but they need someone to show them that way forward. It doesn't have to be the Army, but whomever it is needs a very strong arm to show them they are no longer boss, and they better tow the line.
I suppose if it were easy to solve we would have done it by now.

Agree with you there - having run cadets as well as 7 yrs in another uniform its that sort of discipline that makes scrotes into members of society - gives them a lift up etc.
Not saying they should be going over to the sand-pit, but the framework of discipline and gettting some skills is the bit i would advocate

These little scumbags deserve a beating an I for one would be more than happy to take them apart. Thing is though if they was caught what would happen? The country is far too soft on trash like this, the amount of times you hear of people turning up to court for the 20th time for burglary and being sent home with a 10p fine, really is a joke.

thats one of the "funniest" bits... you have someone who goes out on the rob,, normally because they're 'desperate' due to not having money.... then instead of custodial sentence, give them a fine of a few hundred..
a few hundred quid might not mean anything to most people with jobs... but to someone who has resorted to going out on the rob, how exactly are they going to get the money?
gah!

The Army was good enough for me, so there's no objection from me for National Service. It's funny how those that object most vociferously to the thought of national service have never had the backbone to join up themselves.

What an odd argument. I object to necrophilia without having done it.

Not that funny Drago, when you think about it.

I wouldn't have wanted to be in the military and I don't see a reason for making it compulsory. Plus, I've never been on the wrong side of the law in my life, so I'm not really sure how my being 'disciplined' for two years at the rate payer's expense would benefit society.

this is why i'd quite happily tape a short weight lifting bar to my bike if we had these problems where I live. I'd beat the living shoot out of them. if I walk the dogs at night I take protection with me just incase because there's a fair few subways around here where lads like to sit off and drink and try to impress each other
