Hardly any vehicles use green, blue is a totally different matter and asking for trouble. I think orange/amber lights is actually more of a problem although neither should be used. I can't see why green would be sold, the colours of green I see perform so poorly in real life. White is a much safer choice and really should be white if it is intended to be attached to the bike.

A very strange thing for them to say about reflectors, a front white reflector is not legally necessary.

It is on your body and not on your bike, legality wise...

Having seen Christmas lights on bicycles and persons I think proper green lights work very well in an urban environment. It's the underpowered bogey green lights that are the problem.

haha..."sorry officer - it's not actually apart of my bike...can I go now?"

Apparently green is the colour human eyes can see the easiest...apparently.

Not legal on the road,at all.

To mine or downfader?

With the flashy light I wouldn't make a habit of putting it on - it really is just there for times when I'd like to be lit up more like a Christmas tree

It is actually the case.

The problem I have with green ones I've seen is they are crap. I'd rather people had white lights than green front lights but I'd rather they have green than none at all. Unfortunately the green micro LED ones the police used to give out are so poor I don't see the point. I think it much better to say spend a tenner, get something all right, yes it's a tenner but it'll last you.

I'm glad blue LEDs haven't caught on as the illegal ones you see on cars are obnoxiously dazzling and really do your eyes in.

On an aside issue I'm not very happy that the Mars 4 has orange on it as well as red and wondered about how legal this was.

But they aren't indicators, it most certainly is not correct. Orange is used for specific reasons, just because every Tom, Dick and Harry with a van decides to stick orange or even orange flashing lights on doesn't make it right.

The Mars 4 is a wicked light though .

Im impressed with these.

Not seen those up close. Have heard a few comments that the Smarts arent as waterproof, but hey, given battery lifetimes thesedays you could just put some silicon grease/sealant around the edges.

Dead impressed with my two cateye 610's I use, and the '170 - both have great size visibility and are bright enough. The 610's are on the stays on constant and the 170 is on flash on me saddle bag.

I think 15 quid gets you a set of white and red cateye 170 in a pack, batteries and the clips. So, so worth the money
