Hi Guys,

I know this will have been done a hundred times, but could still be useful for some of us, and yes, I've used the search function.

Anyway, I'm going to give tubulars a try. Primarily because I got a great deal on a pair of very lightweight wheels. I was wondering who else was using tubs, and if they had any top tips.

It seems to me that people are put off by the difficulty of repairing flats, and it's probably fair to say that for most people, roadside tyre changes are unlikely.

However from what I've read, tubs are much less likely to puncture in the first place (no pinch flats), and also, from what I've read from people who are actually using them full time, when they do get a flat, they just use Vittoria Pit Stop sealant, and they're back on the road in a couple of minutes (plus it carries on working for 3 months fixing new punctures as they happen. This to me sounds better than swapping an inner tube.

Of course I understand that Pit Stop will not always work, and there's a chance I may end up stranded, but to be fair, that's happened to me with clinchers, even with two spare inner tubes!

Oh, and I've heard that the ride on tubs is nice. Anyway, be interested to get views from any current or past users of tubs (not so much from people with no actual personal experience!).

I think you may be confusing tubeless with tubulars.

I ride on tubs and love them . Like you say , a can of pitstop and you're up and running again . I wouldn't use them on the winter/ commuter bike but wouldn't bat an eyelid at using them on the other bikes .

I like many who have cycled like me since time begun only had tubular, I can assure you that you can certainly get snake bite puncture.

I no longer use tubulars on any of my bikes.

No, we had Finilec, some swore by milk I did not trust it that much.
milk ? As in cows milk ? Pitstop is like expanding foam but stays in liquid form until it hits air . Great stuff ! I think it probably saved the tub in the public sales area .

As in full fat cows milk. As I said I did not feel it worked.

Many used to put milk in inner tubes as well.

Tyre levers are for wimps, removing tyre is what your teeth was designed for.

I know, though personally I use fingers! But I thought it really added to my joke about the cows! Still can't believe that about the milk. How did you get it into the valves?
