Changing a tub by the roadside is child's play, far easier and quicker than changing an inner tube. I raced on them but back in the day clinchers were heavy horrible old things compare to what is available today. I would not rely on sealant because they will not repair every puncture.

I particularly remember the wonderful noise well inflated tubs made on a smooth road. Don't recall many punctures. Though I do remember repairing them - quite a job. Used to carry a spare under the saddle, and if you punctured pull off the punctured tub and fit the spare, hoping there was enough glue left on the rim to hold it. No Pitstop in those far off days.

There used to be people who would repair tubs (look in 'the comic') for a small fee so I would save up my punctures and get 3 or 4 done at the same time, they are much more expensive nowadays so throwing them away is an expensive option. Planet X is the best (cheapest place to buy). Get a pair of decent ones and a Vittoria rally for under the saddle.

Just got my tubs on the bike, and it's now weighing in at 7.55 kg, thats with a few bits and bobs, like water cage, cycle mount and pedals, I reckon around 7.3 kg without pedals, so easily achieved my 900 gram weight saving as expected! Lot of weight to save from the wheels! That's compared to Fulcrum Racing 7's.

I have tried tape a couple of times but never got on very well but I watched a You Tube video yesterday and today I
fitted a tub using Jantex tape, not easy but far less hassle than glue. I don't know how they will hold up or what happens
with a roadside change but we'll see. The trick is to put a tool with a plastic coated handle between tyre and rim as you
remove backing from tape.
