Metal ones used to let you squeese, flatten & roll properly.

squeeze it 'til some comes out... then when it's getting empty, squeeze it from the base towards the lid in one fell swoop (a rolling pin or jam jar is good for this).

These people who get irate because somebody has squeezed the toothpaste WRONG really need to get out more and find something worth getting irate over... or simply top themselves.

I squeeze anywhere but every week or two I flatten from bottom toward the top...just so it is easier to squeeze from anywhere again.

anywhere... there are greater things to care about than squeezing toothpaste.

that is foolish - the correct way is from the crimped or sealed end - it takes not more time or effort to do it properly.
