Wasn’t sure I would have sufficient strength in the arms but it seems the resistance training I have been doing helped. Mind you they were a bugger to get on!

Well done mate. To be honest they are a real pain. I put a hole in one once trying to yank it on.

I just had a completely unbelievable argument with some guy who drove straight at me in a 4x4. The conversation after I chased him down was mind boggling. I spent ten minutes afterwards wishing he’d got out of his car the 5 or 10 times I told him to. Absolutely fuming doesn’t come close to describing it. Now I’m home I’m just really glad he didn’t get out of his car...


Be careful out there this weekend chaps. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we’re the most vulnerable thing on the road by a million miles. And it doesn’t really matter whether you’re in the right or not.

I ended riding in the middle of the road on an A road to stop multiple drivebys this morning. it was the only way to get the vehicle drivers to slow and plan an overtake instead of just continuing without a thought for my personal safety. Still had several dickhead s doing a punishment pass even when the other carriageway was completely clear, calm now

I always try to stay calm and smile, although if they are kicking off and giving it some gob I do ask them if they'd like to step out the car/van for a quiet chat (whilst still smiling). No one has taken up my offer yet Reason I try to calm things down is that I don't want to get a mile up the road and see that my arguing has caused the driver to become even more enraged and then they take it out on another cyclist. I did one ask one driver, through his window, if he thinks it's acceptable to drive so dangerously around cyclists and potentially make my young daughter an orphan and whether he thought she derserved to have her daddy killed by him - his face was a picture when I bought in my (totally ficticious) daughter. Thankfully most of these conflicts are few and far between - I argue more with you guys on here

if we are all contemplating going abroad next year do you think we ought to look at bike bags ?
has anyone got one / or advise
sore today but must be the worse day so things can only get better !

It makes my bovine scare yesterday seem mild. I was between two gates crossing a road assuming the gates were to keep the sheep off the road when a cow snuck up behind me and bellowed.Scared the cr@p out of me. I’ll get my revenge with the next steak.

Left my house at 6.30 this morning to avoid most of the traffic so only about 30 minutes of the usual traffic was pure joy

If you go to Majorca, I would look into hiring a bike out there. I got a Spesh Tarmac, 5 days, 90 euro fully insured. And they put sensible gears on them 50/34 and 12x32. At least that way you don't have to fret about the ham fisted airport employees.
