The way I read it, it says live coverage of the 2027 TdF stages , not just the UK stages. I hope I am right.

I read it as live coverage of the grand depart, and then only highlights after that.
Happy to be wrong though.

"The deal will also include live coverage of the UK Grand Départs of both the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes in 2027.

By combining a strong free-to-air highlights offering with our comprehensive live coverage, we are delivering unprecedented access to the sport across every platform. Cycling is one of the most compelling sports in the world, featuring extraordinary athletes and unforgettable moments, and it's important that those stories are shared with the widest possible audience."

I've taken the our to mean the subscription channel.

Afraid not.

The deal also means that the opening three stages of both the 2027 men’s and women’s editions of the Tour de France, which will be held across England, Scotland, and Wales, will be broadcast live on 5. Daily highlights of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes will also be available on the channel, it was confirmed.

And even in the cycling News article I linked to above, it says
plus next year we'll have live coverage of the Tour de France's historic return to the UK.
So only the UK part.

And on TNT's own site
https://www.tntsports.co.uk/cycling...-deal-with-tnt-sports_sto23310456/story.shtml
  • 5 partners with TNT Sports to deliver exclusive English-language free-to-air highlights coverage of cycling’s Grand Tours in UK
  • Coverage begins with 2026 Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana highlights, Giro d’Italia to follow in 2027
  • 5 to broadcast live coverage of UK Grand Depart for 2027 Tour de France and 2027 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift
Notice only the UK Grand Depart. Which is the first three stages of each race.

This is the news we want

Coverage begins with 2026 Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana highlights,

I have TNT via an old BT contract for free, but I've found their highlights programmes are just spliced together coverage, rather than what C4 did is give you some narrative around what was happening - I hope C5 follow this format.

Yes to this! The TNT highlights were incomprehensible, although they've improved a bit over the past couple of years. C'mon 5, show us what you can do!

Since it was probably the colour pieces that made it so expensive for ITV is it not more likely to be C'mon 5, show us what you've bought?

If it's nonsense or if Pog's killed it by the middle of week 1, I'll switch to the 10 minutes YouTube highlights.

That or simply the last 30 minutes or whatever of racing even if all the action took place before that.

Yes.

But not everything is included, so no guarantees this will be.

Thanks.

The DMax highlights were noticeably better this year for the Giro than previously (may have been on Quest) although their was still the occasional commentary which made no sense without seeing the full race. Presumably those will be the format for the ones on 5.

I think someone above mentioned that there is some joint ownership thing going on, so I'd be very surprised if they spent extra money (Aside from the presenter) to change/alter the already created highlights package that they will make available for streaming.
I suspect the attitude will be that we are lucky to have it, and take what you're given.
Very happy to be wrong though.

If everything is still playing ball, I will be watching via other means still.
