I decided to watch the Top Gear Bolivia road trip in iplayer as there was nothing else on. Waiting for Sky at Night now but might go to sleep and leave it to record.

La Vie en Rose was on ITV 3 earlier - great movie

And I'm currently watching some guff about Vikings - so guff that it's entertaining. I've watched it before but it's taken me 90 minutes to realise it!

Tend to record the few progs that I like - generally they seem to put it on at times when I can't watch it - then just watch that rather than wading through the schedules looking for anything of interest being broadcast live. Last night, watched the second part of the '3 men in a boat' thing. Quite entertaining.

More channels = more dross!

I hardly watch the telly box anymore!

I think they've run out of good ideas for programmes. Most of the time, I'd rather read or be tinkering with some project or other than watching tv.

It's that old 'when you're on your deathbed' question: would your last words be: "I wish I'd watched more tv!"? I think not!

Gave up on TV at end of August. Don't miss it. Have so much more free time. Though have to admit I was looking forward to catching up with some TV at friends over New Years. But what a crock of cack! It was mostly repeats. The progs that weren't were total crap. So yes you are better off not watching TV. While radio this Christmas has been excellent .

Also had some enforced TV watching over Xmas while visiting... some decent films I guess.

Also last episode of Dr Who which I thought was underwhelming - still using the lazy, silly sci-fi devices of

- Shooting a control panel somehow disables an entire ship.
- A space ship that still requires people to sit in nacelles and aim the guns? Right...
- Said huge ship can out-manoeuvre tiny missiles? Right...
- Planet/sun type thing appears in easy visual distance of Earth yet its gravity apparently has no effect even after several minutes?
- Was there some reason he didn't just put a brick through the glass interlocked thing to free the old man? And what moron designs a control desk enclosure thingy which can end up 'pumped full' of radiation? If you must have a containment system, then put the controls outside it somewhere safe!
- etc etc

Sure, it's a TV show but still...
