I've got to go on a two day 'management' course starting tomorrow - I've put it off once but they won't let me get out of it. Oh God, what if there's role-play and all that tosh, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to survive.

How can I get out of it, any good ideas?

Tell them you're into Continuous Improvement.
Then kick someone in the nuts and go to the pub.

You're going to have to be part of a team and build a bridge out of a chewing gum wrapper, a piece of string, lint from the organisers pocket, a bog roll and a tin of Chum dog food. You will then have to get your team members to cross the bridge without touching the floor. Fail... and it will be on your work record. No bonus or wage rise for you m'boy.

Or have a listen to this. From the Million Pound Radio Show.

I've been to similar thing though I'm not 'Management' and the thing I dread is that bit where you go round the room introducing yourselves with a brief career resume. It terrifies the life out of me because a silly mistake or fluffed line defines your day. Still, be assured that the majority won't want to be there any more than you do.

Every time somebody uses a bit of management jargon like the above "paradigm shift", put your hand up and ask what it means. After you've done it 15 times they might start talking in plain English which in turn should cut the overall time of the course by about 50%. They can't have a go at you for it because you are on the course to learn things.
