Two pints of cider has wiped me out.

I've just been out and had 2 pints of cider when I met an old friend I hadn't seen for years for lunch. I'm not used to drinking at all and it did for me to the extent that I've just had a nap to sleep it off> Honestly two pints and that was definitely my limit if not past my limit. I've actually got a bit of a headache now and am looking forward to an early night.
This has nothing to do with anything and I do realise that it is not the most interesting post anyone has ever made and that I am not likely to get any after dinner speeking gigs on the back of it, I simply thought I'd share with you all what a middle aged lightweight I am. I seem to remember back in my turbulent youth that I would get most of my weekly nutrients from beer. I ran on the stuff so to speak. Sheesh.

You'll have to change your name to CiderPathetic!

Know what you mean, though: I had two large glasses of rose wine on Saturday afternoon, which effectively put me out for an hour or two, but I came back strongly in the evening and had several cans of beer and a large part of the wine box that was on offer.

Probably didn't help that it was lunch time drinking but all the same next time I go to the pub I'm having shandy and I don't feel in any way ashamed to admit it. Because I don't drink very often at all I am happy to keep my tolerance low as well as my expenses.
The price was a shock as well. Admitedly it was a bit of a trendy bar but £4.20 for a pint of best (can't remember the name I just asked the bar tender what he recomended, it's that long since i've had a drink in a pub) cider is a bit bleedin' steep. Or is that just normal nowadays?

You're just out of practice, you need to do it more often to build up your stamina.
It's funny, I can drink several gin and tonics in an evening and not feel any the worse for it, but one glass of wine at lunch time and I need to lie down by 4pm.

Yes I paid £4 for a pint at the Rose (Ageas) Bowl while watching Hampshire beat Essex in the t20.

Once upon a time I had a girl friend who would get giggly drunk on half a pint of cider, at nine pence a pint ( half = fourpence ha'penny) this was a cheap night out.

Four quid a pint! I bought 3 litres of cider for four quid from the local off license tonight. I use my local pubs as i don't want to see them disappear, but i hate paying £2.50 a pint, and the cost of soft drinks in pubs is astronomical!
